Visitando blogs hace unas semanas llegué a uno de mis favoritos, el de Natalia-Trendy Taste. Mis ojos de fueron directos a los pantalones, que me recordaron a los años de mi carrera, Bellas Artes. Cada dos por tres nos manchábamos la ropa y por eso al final terminamos casi todas por comprarnos un mono de esos azules (tipo obrero) sí, todo muy glamuroso… Bromeábamos con la idea de que acabaríamos yendo a clase todas con los pantalones pintados. No lo hicimos en su momento, pero de eso trata el diy de hoy, de cumplir antiguas intenciones :) Un diy capricho 100%.

Some weeks ago I was visiting one of my favourite blogs, the one of Natalia-Trendy taste. My eyes went directly to her pants, which reminded me of the years studying Fine Arts. We usually got paint stains on our clothes and most of us decided to start wearing a blue jumpsuit (similar to the one that some workers wear) it doesn’t sound very glamorous, I know… We used to make jokes about the idea of start going to class with the jeans painted. We didn’t do it, but this is what the diy is about, to accomplish old intentions.
Materiales Materials
- Vaqueros/ Jeans
- Pintura textil ó acrílica/ Textile or acrylic paint
- Pinceles y brochas pequeñas/ Brushes

Estos son los pantalones que despertaron en mí las ganas de usar unos jeans como lienzo para una pintura abstracta.
This is the pair of jeans that made my mind start thinking about creating a diy.
Paso 1. Lavar los pantalones antes de pintarlos. No se llega a apreciar bien, pero estos pantalones estaban jubilados porque tenían una mancha de pintura amarilla. Cosas del destino porque se han convertido en el soporte más idóneo para este diy.
Step 1. Wash the jeans as normal before painting them. Maybe it’s not very clear, but I didn’t wear these jeans because they had a yellow stain on them.
Paso 2. Pensar los colores que utilizaremos y hacer las mezclas necesarias. Puede que sea más recomendable utilizar pintura textil, pero la pintura acrílica tampoco se va con los lavados. Os recomiendo empezar aplicando los tonos más claros y terminar una “cara” del vaquero antes de empezar con la otra. De base utilizaré el blanco y sobre él el resto de tonos alternando brocha y pincel.
Step 2. Think about the colours that you want to use and mix some of them if you need it. It is more advisable to use textile paint, but acrylic paint is also a good option. I recommend you to start with the lighter tones and to finish one “side” of the jean before starting the other one. As fist layer I’m going to use white and over it the rest of the colours using different brushes.
Paso 3. Ir aplicando los colores limpiando el pincel cada vez que se cambie de tono. En mi caso el orden ha sido el siguiente: ocre-magenta (rosa)-rojo-azul-turquesa-verde. Algunos tonos los he difuminado entre sí por ejemplo: magenta-rojo o azul-turquesa.
Step 3. Paint with the different colours, cleaning the brush each time you change to a different tone. In my case the order has been: ocher, magenta (pink)-red-blue-turquois-green. I have blurred some tone together: magenta-red and blue-turquois.
Paso 4. Realizar el mismo proceso en la parte contraria del pantalón. En mi caso, pinté menos la parte trasera. Al secar aplicar un poco de pintura blanca sobre algunas manchas de color.
Step 4. Repeat the same process on the other side of the jean. In my case I painted less the back of the jeans. After the paint gets dry, paint again over some of the colour stroke with some white.
Paso 5. Al secarse la pintura los pantalones quedarán un poco acartonados. Hay que lavarlos para que se vuelvan más flexibles. Si has utilizado pintura textil es recomendable que fijes la pintura planchando la prenda por la parte interior.
Step 5. When the paint dries up they will get a bit hard. They need to be washed to be more flexible. If you have used textile paint is recommendable to fix the paint ironing the interior side of the garment.
Resultado. Unos jeans muy llamativos. En un principio pensaba ponérmelos algún día para ir al cole (por eso de que si me manchaban los peques ni se notaría) pero creo que no seré tan valiente jeje. Igualmente os enseñaré fotos de cómo se pueden combinar para looks casual de fín de semana. ¿Qué os ha parecido? ¿Os animaríais a ponéroslos?
Result. A pair of striking jeans. In the beginning I was going to wear them to go to school (because in case a kid painted accidentally my jeans it won’t be noticed) but I think that in the end I’m not going to be that brave to wear them at work. Nevertheless I’ll share some outfit photos to share with you ideas to combine them. Do you like it? Would you dare to wear them?
